This four-hour class on sanitary drainage systems (SDS) covers principles essential to all Florida plumbers, including the effective design, installation and maintenance of SDS in residential and commercial environments.
The program delves into the components of well-constructed SDS, offering guidance on:
- Proper installment techniques: Planning, selecting the right materials and an overview of the standard codes adopted nationwide
- Sizing methodologies: Assignment of drainage fixture units (DFU) and calculating system drainage load, the horizontal drainage slope based on Darcy and Manning’s formula and other methods for accurate sizing
- Fluid dynamics: Comprehensive overview of piping layout and system design
- Alternative systems: Environmentally friendly and sustainable methods; cutting-edge and non-standard sanitary drainage systems
- Grease interceptors and F.O.G.: Including the processes of installation and maintenance, as well as best practices for proper placement
Participants will acquire foundational knowledge and insights to further their studies, improve their practical application skills and advance their professional plumbing careers in Florida. The course also touches upon the critical role of SDS in promoting public health and protecting the environment.
