Course Description
This four-hour online training program explores water heater components, operations and upkeep. It also provides plumbers in Kentucky with important information regarding changes to federal energy standards, which will require the adoption of heat pump technology in residential systems by 2029.
Covered topics include:
- Key terms pertinent to gas and electric water heaters
- Common types of water heaters used in the U.S.
- Water heater functions and standard operating procedures
- Regulations, guidelines and plumbing codes
- Safety and maintenance protocols for residential systems
- Methods for sizing and installing water heaters accurately
- Renewable energy, conservation practices and hydronic systems
- Energy-saving technologies for commercial applications
The course is divided into sections of content, each ending in a review question that allows students to re-examine the material presented. Following the review, participants will be prompted to take a quiz. There is no final exam.
