Course Description
This four-hour web-based course provides South Dakota plumbers with a comprehensive overview of water heater components and their functionalities. Participants will also learn about the federal government’s recent changes to residential energy standards, including the mandatory migration to heat pump technology by 2029 and how to navigate potential issues that may arise because of these updates.
The course will examine:
- Common terms relevant to gas and electric water heaters
- Types of models used in U.S. markets
- Unit designs and operating variances
- Regulations, guidelines and plumbing codes
- Maintenance and safety for residential systems
- Methods for accurately sizing and installing water heaters
- Energy conservation technologies for hydronic and commercial systems
The course is divided into multiple sections to facilitate learning. Each section will end with a brief review question, followed by a quiz. There is no final exam.
