This four-hour online course explores the importance and functionality of sanitary drainage systems (SDS). It offers plumbing professionals in Utah a comprehensive overview of the proper design, installation and maintenance of SDS for implementation and practical use applications in both commercial and residential sectors.
The course provides information on key SDS components, including:
- Proper installment: Planning techniques, materials choice and a short examination of the codes most often adopted in the U.S.
- Sizing precision: Assigning drainage fixture units (DFU), determining the system drainage load, calculating horizontal drainage slope using Darcy and Manning’s formulas and exploring alternative methods for sizing
- Fluid dynamics: The way pipes are laid out and how systems are designed
- Alternative systems: Eco-friendly and sustainable techniques; advanced and unique sanitary drainage systems
- Grease (F.O.G.) interceptors: Functionality and best practices for efficient placement, installation and maintenance of fat, oil and grease traps
Additionally, the course highlights the crucial role that SDS play in promoting public health and environmental preservation. Upon successfully completing the course, Vermont plumbers will have acquired the essential knowledge of sanitary drainage systems necessary to advance their careers and excel in the field.
